After officially unveiling the Nokia 5230 Nuron for T-Mobile USA, Nokia has made a pretty important announcement: it has partnered with Skype to offer Skype for Symbian through the company’s Ovi Store, making it available to more than 200 million smartphone users around the world.

Skype for Symbian is free and allows Nokia phone users to use it via Wi-Fi, as well as via a mobile data connection (3G is recommended; GPRS and EDGE should also work, although some Skype features work best on 3G only).

Like the other mobile versions of the app, Skype for Symbian features free Skype-to-Skype calling, cheap calls and texts to phone abroad, instant messaging, file transfers and so on.
